"We tried everything. Then we made the thing we wished existed."

Every pediatrician we spoke to said the same thing: once she's rolling, nothing loose goes in the cot — a well-fitted wearable blanket is the safe way to keep her warm through the night.

But nobody makes one a baby actually settles in at 3:48am. So we built a sleeveless dot-fleece sack that holds her torso at a steady 1.5 TOG, leaves her arms free to vent heat, and gives her fingers something to stroke while she drifts off.

Four prototypes later, the DreamDots Sack is the thing we wish someone had handed us — and most parents tell us the first longer stretch shows up inside the first week.

The TummyHush founders, Sarah and James, at their kitchen table
— the 2am blanket problem

She outgrew the swaddle.
She can't have a blanket yet.

That gap is where sleep falls apart. Arms out means startle reflex. Loose blankets aren't safe under 12 months. So you end up choosing between a cold baby and a risky cot — at 2am, on four hours of sleep.

What most parents try first

Everything that gets kicked off, chewed, or warned against.

  • Loose blankets — kicked off by 1am, and flagged by every safe-sleep guideline under 12 months.
  • Footed sleepsuits alone — not warm enough at 18°C, too warm at 22°C.
  • Arms-in swaddles past 8 weeks — she's rolling, and it's no longer safe.
  • Long-sleeved sacks — overheated arms, sweaty back, 3am wake-up.
  • Thin cotton sacks — no texture, nothing for her hands to do while she settles.
What the DreamDots Sack does

One wearable blanket that stays on — and gives her hands a job.

  • Sleeveless so arms vent heat while the torso stays a steady 1.5 TOG warm.
  • Can't be kicked off — it's worn, not laid on top. Cot stays clear.
  • 3D minky dots give little fingers something to stroke instead of fight.
  • Two-way zip opens from the hem — change a nappy without unzipping her chest.
  • Roomy hem for hip-healthy leg kicks; she can roll, stretch, and self-settle.
— three design decisions

Why this one stays on, all night.

We tested 41 sample sacks across 300 nights with real families. Three things separated the ones babies slept in from the ones that ended up on the floor.

01
arms vent the heat
Sleeveless

Arms out, torso warm

Babies dump heat through their hands, feet and head. Sleeveless keeps her core at a steady 1.5 TOG while the arms self-regulate — the single biggest cause of sweaty 3am wake-ups, removed.

02
something to stroke
Sensory

3D dots her fingers find

Raised minky dots give a settling baby a repetitive texture to stroke — the same self-soothing loop as a comfort tag, but on the thing she's already wearing. Occupational-therapist reviewed.

03
open from the hem
Two-way zip

Change her without waking her

The zip runs both ways, so a 2am nappy means opening the bottom 20cm — not unwrapping her chest into cold air. A chin guard and zip garage sit at the top so nothing touches skin.

Pediatrician portrait
Dr. Reyes · MD, FAAP

A well-fitted wearable blanket is the answer I give every parent in the swaddle-transition window. Nothing loose in the cot, arms free to regulate temperature, and a neck opening that can't slip over the head. This one gets all three right.

Dr. Marisol Reyes, MD, FAAP Pediatrician · St. Vincent Children's, Cincinnati · 18 yrs practice
— the details you'd only find by owning it

Six small things that make it the one she keeps.

Texture

Double-sided dot fleece

Raised minky dots outside, brushed velour lining inside. 280gsm — substantial enough to feel like a real blanket, light enough for a 20°C room.

🌡1.5 TOG

The all-year TOG

Sized for 18–22°C nursery temps over a short-sleeve bodysuit. Layer a long-sleeve underneath for winter — no second sack needed.

Access

Two-way YKK zip + garage

Opens top-down or bottom-up. A fabric zip garage and fold-over chin guard mean metal never touches her neck.

🦴Hip-healthy

52cm roomy hem

Wide enough for legs to bend up and out at the hip — the position paediatric physios ask for. She can kick, roll and stretch freely.

🫧Certified

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Tested against 300+ harmful substances in the class for baby articles. No optical brighteners, no azo dyes, no fragrance.

🌀Durability

40-wash pill test

We wash-tested to 40 cycles at 30°C. Dots stay raised, seams stay flat, zip stays smooth. Machine wash cold, tumble low, no ironing.

safe-sleep note — Always place baby on her back to sleep. Use the size that matches her length — the neck opening should never pass over her head. No hats, no loose bedding.

Grandmother holding her sleeping granddaughter in the DreamDots sack
"The best baby-shower gift I've ever given. I checked."

I sent the three-pack to my daughter when the baby outgrew the swaddle and nobody was sleeping. She called me at 7am after the second night — seven hours. One sack lives at my house now for sleepovers, one's in the wash, one's on the baby. Grandmothers, this is the one.

The two-way zip is the whole product.

Nappy change at 2am without unzipping her chest into a cold room. She barely stirs. I genuinely cannot go back to a normal sack now.

Reflux baby, so it gets washed constantly. Dots still raised, no pilling, zip still glides. The cheap one we tried before was matted in a fortnight.

Runs generous — size down if she's slim.

The 6–18m was roomy on our 7-month-old at first. Fine now at 9 months and she'll get another year out of it, but check the length chart.

Q

What does she wear underneath?

A

Short-sleeve bodysuit at 20°C, long-sleeve pyjamas if the room drops under 18°C. Nothing on the feet — the sack keeps them warm and she runs hot.

✓ Verified·Priya R. · Atlanta, GA·4 mo · bought Jan
Q

Can she still roll and pull to stand in it?

A

Rolling, yes — freely. Standing in the cot she can pull up but it's slippery, which honestly helped her give up on standing at 6am. Legs have loads of room.

✓ Verified·Dev N. · Brooklyn, NY·9 mo · bought Mar
Q

I'm buying this as a gift for my daughter — which size do I send?

A

I did exactly this. Go by the baby's length, not age — and if you're between sizes, send the bigger one; they run generous and she'll grow into it. I did the three-pack in 6–18m and my daughter said it was the most useful gift anyone sent.

Q

How does it dry? We only have one.

A

Tumble low takes about 40 minutes, air-dry overnight. That said — get the 3-pack. We learned the hard way after a 4am nappy leak with nothing to change into.

— a note from the founders

Why we made a fourth prototype instead of shipping the third.

Dear new parent (and the grandmas shopping for one),

Rosie outgrew her swaddle at nine weeks and we lost the sleep we'd only just earned back. Arms out meant startling awake. A blanket wasn't safe and got kicked off anyway. Every sack we bought was either too warm through the sleeves or so plain there was nothing for her hands to do while she settled.

So we made one. The third prototype was good — warm, safe, well-fitted. But Rosie kept reaching for a dotted comfort blanket instead of settling into the sack. That's when we added the 3D minky dots, and it stopped being something we put her in and became something she reached for.

It won't fix teething, a growth spurt, or a dairy allergy. But for the months between the swaddle and a real blanket, it's the thing we wish had existed. If it doesn't help you, tell us inside 30 nights — we'll refund you, and you keep the sack.

FAQ

What size do I order?

Go by length, not age. 0–6m fits babies up to 26 in / 66 cm. 6–18m fits 26–33 in / 66–84 cm. 18–36m fits 33–39 in / 84–99 cm. The neck opening must never be able to pass over her head — if it feels loose at the neck, size down. Our sacks run generous, so if she's slim, order the smaller size.

Is 1.5 TOG right for my nursery?

1.5 TOG suits 18–22°C over a short-sleeve bodysuit. Warmer than 23°C, use just a nappy underneath. Cooler than 18°C, add long-sleeve pyjamas. Her chest should feel warm but not damp — hands and feet being cool is normal and healthy.

Can she use it once she's rolling?

Yes — that's exactly what it's for. Unlike an arms-in swaddle, the DreamDots sack leaves both arms free, so she can roll, push up and reposition. It's the standard recommendation for the window between the swaddle and a real blanket.

How does Buy 2, Get 1 Free work?

Pick the three-pack and you pay for two sacks — $136 instead of $204. It also works with any mix: add any 3 sacks (any colours, any sizes) and the discount applies itself at checkout, every 3rd sack free. Sending them to different addresses? Place separate orders and note it — we'll match the deal on the third.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low or air dry. No fabric softener — it flattens the dots. No ironing. We wash-tested to 40 cycles with no pilling and no loss of dot height.

Does the zip touch her skin?

No. A fold-over chin guard covers the top of the zip, and a fabric zip garage parks the pull away from her neck. The two-way zip also means you can open from the hem for nappy changes and leave the top fully closed.

What if it doesn't work for us?

Tell us within 30 nights and we refund you in full — and you keep the sack and the ebook. Nothing to box up, no forms, no questions. That's the whole guarantee.

When does it ship?

Orders placed before 2pm ET ship the same day from our Cincinnati warehouse. Standard US delivery is 2–4 days, free over $70. The Colic Sleep Guide PDF arrives by email within 60 seconds of checkout.

one last thing ♡

The next kicked-off blanket
could be the last kicked-off blanket.

Order before 2pm ET and it ships today. Most parents see a longer first stretch inside the first week — and a baby who reaches for the dots by night three. Sending it to a new mom? She'll call you at 7am. In a good way.
